Internet Marketing Advice: Building an Online Presence

If you want to succeed with your website or online business, the most important piece of Internet marketing advice that you can receive is to build your online presence. Building an online presence takes a lot of work, and there are many different ways of going about it. The best strategy is to incorporate several different approaches to ensure that your presence grows as large and as quickly as possible.

One of the most essential ways of increasing your online presence is through search engine optimization (SEO). Your presence in the search engines is the key to the amount of traffic that your site receives and is extremely important to your success. To build your presence with SEO you have to spend time doing keyword research and link building, choosing a good domain name and implementing other fundamental strategies that can aid in your success.

Internet gurus who give expert Internet marketing advice say that many people fail in internet marketing because they spend some time on basic SEO, but they don’t spend time on other strategies to increase their online presence. If you truly want to grow your business, you have to do much more than just basic SEO.

One of the other tactics that you can use is to participate in social networking. Social networking involves all of the different web 2.0 communities that are available today. These include the major sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter, to link sharing sites like Digg and media sites such as YouTube.

If you spend time joining some of these different networks and participating with their communities and members, you will help your business gain a foothold in your market, finding new prospects along the way. All of the major social networking sites are different, and they all won’t work for everyone. The challenge lies in learning which ones are appropriate for your company and figuring out how you can exploit the sites for your advantage.

Another potential way to help build your online presence is through article marketing. Article marketing entails writing and distributing articles to various online magazines and directories. You get to include a resource box with your article that includes a blurb about yourself and your company, and links back to your website. And linkbacks are very powerful in getting your site noticed by the search engines and Google.

By providing unique, interesting and valuable information in your articles you can increase your site’s reputation and establish yourself as a knowledgeable member of the community. People will begin to seek you out as a trusted source of information, and you’ll see more traffic to your site.

These are just a few of the ways that your site can see an improved online presence. The best path to success is one that involves many different techniques that work together to produce the greatest results.

If Copy is King, Context is Emperor

Not too long ago I came across a debate on a now-defunct Internet marketing discussion board concerning sales letters. One camp argued that a sales letter should stand alone and follow a specific format. The other camp argued that the sales letter should take into account the context of where, when, why, and by whom the it is likely to be read.

As it happened, the debate arose over a particular sales letter that many in the first camp regarded as ‘weak.’ In this case, the sales letter was the final element in a product launch sequence of communications, preceded by a series of pre-launch emails, reports and videos.

The first camp believed that the sales letter should have stood on its own merits, while the second camp believed that it was fine as it was and should have been judged within the context of the pre-launch / launch sequence. As for me, I was – and am – very much of the second camp.

As the title of this article indicates: if copy is king, context is emperor. Effective communication always takes into account the context – who is reading it, and why, how, where and when they’re reading it. Indeed, context is the reason why, for example, many participants in high profile Internet marketing product launches don’t end up reading the ultimate sales letter. They’ve already been ‘sold’ by the sequence of pre-launch emails, videos, reports and other elements.

For that reason, the sales letter at the end of the pre-launch / launch campaign does not, in some ways, have to be as ‘strong’ as, say, a sales letter that does not follow a pre-launch sequence.

That doesn’t necessarily mean the sales letter that comes at the end of a product launch should be put together as though it’s an after-thought. There will be some people who have either not gone through the launch sequence, or have gone through it and aren’t convinced, or for whatever reason want to read every word of the sales letter.

What proportion of people fall into this category will vary according to the situation, but it will usually be significant enough to justify putting a lot of effort into creating a top-notch sales letter. In fact, in recent launches I’ve seen marketers continue tweaking the sales letter after making the product available, clearly indicating the seriousness with which they regard the sales letter.

But the point remains that a product launch sales letter is likely to be different to one used for an audience that has not been ‘pre-sold’ in any way. Some may regard such a product launch sales letter as ‘weak’ because of this, but chances are that it wouldn’t be effective for the vast majority of readers if it was the same kind of sales letter used for a ‘raw’ audience.

Internet Marketing Tutorial – Learn By Reading Or Watching Videos

In any kind of enterprise and any kind of endeavor, you can’t expect to succeed without any form of preparation. You need to learn the basics of the field you are engaging in, you need to know how to things work. Jumping into a field without any prior knowledge is suicide.

While you need the experience to succeed, you need to make sure you are committing very few mistakes when you are just collecting the necessary experiences you need to succeed. The same thing applies when you are engaged in affiliate marketing. You need experience but, at the same time, you need to know the basics before you try and gain that experience. To fill the void, you need to learn through internet marketing tutorial.

Internet marketing tutorial can be in many forms. For instance, you can learn through getting a direct mentor or mentorship program, or you can simply do a self-study by reading and watching videos discussing the topic. It all depends on what you think will work best for you. Do you work better with an actual teacher (although you are most probably going to interact with the teacher through the Internet) or are you going to thrive best if you do the reading and the learning yourself?

An internet marketing tutorial can never be complete in the sense that the only way to really learn from these tutorials is to put the steps you learn into action. But they are very efficient and sufficient for beginners. Of course, you also need to realize that an internet marketing course has limitations.

First off, although what you may have learned from the internet marketing tutorial is correct, your lack of skills may have been the cause of your failure. The tutorial may teach you what to do, but your skills and business marketing sense will dictate whether or not you can accomplish what the tutorial asked you to do.

Interpretation of information can also be a limitation. A course will provide you with the information on what to do on a particular situation. But since these “situations” are not always what they seem, you may not be able to interpret properly, leaving you unable to accomplish the task. Most of the time, one will not sense the external or outside factors that can affect the campaign-leading to its failure. Also, an internet marketing tutorial often provides a very to-the-letter instruction. But when one senses failure midway, he or she would often decide to back out-not knowing that success often comes at the very end of the steps provided.

In the end, it all lies on you-the internet marketing tutorial is not to blame. These tutorials are indeed very beneficial since they offer information that can help you succeed in your campaigns. They can help you gain the experience and the keen marketing sense you will need in this field. What you learn may seem very useless when you first try them, but experience will help you realize that what you have learned can be useful later on.

Email Marketing Tips – 5 Ways to Build a Responsive Mailing List

If you are an internet marketer, a mailing list is your money making machine. Having a mailing list is very important if you want to achieve success with internet marketing. So if you are not building your own list now, you should do it as soon as possible.

Many internet marketers have difficulty building a responsive mailing list. If you do not have any clue on how to do it, you are at the right place. In this article, let me share with you 5 ways to build a responsive mailing list fast.

  1. Create a squeeze page and place simple lead capture form on it. Placing lead capture form onto your page is not as hard as you think it is. It is as simple as copy and pasting some code from your autoresponder and placing it on your web page. You should place the form above the fold so that it will be the first thing that people see when they visit your site. Try to remove distractions like links to other pages of your site. The objective of a squeeze page is to entice people to either opt into your list or leave your site. To entice people to opt into your list, you can offer something of value for free.
  2. Drive the right traffic. If you want a higher opt in conversion, you need the right traffic. So identify your visitors and make sure that your marketing efforts are driving the right people to your page.
  3. Create a short report or e-book and add to JV giveaway events. Spend some money to buy PLR content and repackage the content to an e-book. Do up a simple cover page for it and rebrand the e-book as your own. The content of the e-book does not need to be complex. Just make sure that you come up with a good title for your e-book that will make it appealing and capture the attention of the people. JV giveaways are events that are organized by big name internet marketers where they will invite others to contribute to the event by offering a product of their own.

By trying out the 3 methods that I shared with you today, you can definitely increase your mailing list size in the next few weeks. All these methods are free and you have nothing to lose. Try them out and see the response.

Why Should You Become An Affiliate Marketer

What would happen if you lost your job or interest rates suddenly shot up? Or what if your retirement was looming and your pension didn’t look too healthy-these are situations that happen every day to people all around you. Suddenly you find yourself in desperate need of money. The Internet can provide the solution to your worries, although it won’t happen overnight.

More people are taking the decision to become an affiliate marketer either with or without their own website. Affiliate marketing is an easy way to start your own business online and make money without having to have your own product to promote.

All you have to do is sign up with an affiliate network which is usually free to join and choose the products you want to promote. For each sale you make you receive a commission, usually between 25% and 75%. If you are new to Internet marketing the decision to become an affiliate marketer is one of the best you will make. You can work with or without a website, it’s your choice.

If you choose not to build a website you can promote your products by writing articles and submitting to lots of article directories. The promotion is done in the resource box where you can have a link to whatever you are promoting. Hosting a blog is also a good way of promoting goods. You can write a review of your product pointing out the good and bad points. If you have some spare cash you can use paid advertising but this is usually done when you have made a profit and want to reinvest in your business.

If you decide to build a website you will have a better chance at making more money when you become an affiliate marketer. It will be easier to promote several products and streams of income all at the same time. The merchant will have banners that you can place on your site to promote his products. The promotion methods are still the same, such as article writing, hosting a blog or paid advertising but by having your own website you can build trust with visitors to your site and brand yourself. The costs can still be kept to a minimum and would include website hosting and an auto responder to build a list of visitors details.

By deciding to become an affiliate marketer you will earn a good income but you will have to put in some hard work in order to market your products and make sales. However, you have to remember that almost all the money you earn will be profit for you.
